We have our first chicken egg!!!! I'm giddy!!!!
Today egg #2 made an appearance. Jack was amazing. It was too far inside the trailer for me to reach, so I was going to wait for Joel to come home. (I have a funny thing about birds, they intimidate me for some reason.) Jack was so excited that our chickens laid another egg that he ran to get his boots on and wanted to climb into the trailer with 14 chickens to retrieve it! And sure enough, he was so brave. While he was on the egg hunt I threw old veggies from the garden on the other side of the trailer to distract them. With a few chickens being very curious about him, yes, flying around (but not at) him, Jack was successful! He was so proud, and rightfully so.
To celebrate our new eggs, we had pancakes for breakfast!
(I had to take the picture of the cracked egg because I was worried that with a rooster our fertilized eggs would have little formed chicks. Nope!)
